Silas loves his "Holy Guacamole!" |
For those that don't already know, . . . we are in countdown mode! We have an official move date of September 13th. That's right folks, if all goes as planned, our family will be resting our tired heads on the comfy floor (with sleeping bag and mat of course) of our new home by the evening of the 13th. Holy Guacamole!
It's going to be crazy pretty much from here on out. Actually, since we bought the house, when has it not been crazy? At the moment, our time is spent trying to get our house ready for renters and pack up our life. It's cathartic, cleansing, exciting, sad. All of it. I have needed something like this. With these last few years being as intense as they have been, giving birth to my children and also losing my mom, it's high time I went through all my stuff and purged. I welcome the change that is about to unfold.
I say this through watery eyes though. I grew up here and I'm going to miss this place. Mostly the people. I'm leaving behind some of my favorite peeps here. I know this leaves room to find new means of communication and time to spend with those that I love, however, I do grieve the loss of seeing some of these beautiful people at the drop of a hat. I love you guys and gals, you know who you are. Funny, the tube is on in the background as I write this and Debussy's "Claire De Lune" is playing, very appropriate. Sniffle. Sniffle.
Anyway, just to give you a hint of what kind of an "operation" this has been to plan, here's our itinerary for the first few weeks of September, . . .
Sept. 4th: Jessica packs and juggles 2 kids. Gary drive's up to Orcas with a friend in 2 cars to take our animals (the 2 dogs, 3 cats, and 2 birds, . . . Bernie the lizard will go up later)
Sept 5th: I'll probably be balancing Silas on my nose while trying to tape up a box and cooking peas and eggs for Serafin. Gary and friend arrive on Orcas
Sept 6th: Jessica packs and juggles 2 kids! Gary rests, helps animals adjust
Sept 7th: Guess what I'll be doing. Gary heads home.
Sept 8th: I'm going to go out partying, forget the kids, they can hang with grandpa (kidding of course, . . .more packing, . . .) Gary arrives home.
Sept 9th: Finish as much packing as we can and rest.
Sept 10th. Movers come and help box up anything we haven't
Sept 11th. Mover's come and take it all up north. Gary leaves AGAIN to go back to Orcas. I stay behind with kids.
Sept 12th. I come and clean our empty home. Kids hang with grandpa. Gary arrives on Orcas.
Sept 13th: I catch a 6:30 AM flight to Seattle with the kiddos, arrive on Orcas by 4:00 PM (if I don't miss the ferry!)
Sept 14th: Movers arrive to Orcas and we move in!
It's a lot, isn't it!?! Sigh. I mustn't forget to breath. If anybody wants to come hang out and say their farewell's, we'd love to see you. We wouldn't turn down any food or baby holding either (wink wink). Yeah, come giggle with our cute baby while we pack some boxes! Of course, if grub or baby-sitting is out of the question, we'd just love to give y'all a hug before we are off. AND, . . .if we can't see you before then, . . . hopefully you will come visit us in the Forest on the Island. xxoo
Am sad to see you go, but know you have some great adventures in store.
ReplyDeleteLots of love and happy packing! Mwah.
